the. best. thing. ever.

It's been a while since I watched the Lifetime channel but it used to be a staple of my childhood. Long before self help books became en vogue, Lifetime movies taught girls valuable life lessons, such as:

  1. Every woman has a sassy black friend.
  2. If your daughter uses the internet, she will get kidnapped.
  3. Women's intuition is essential in crime solving.

Or so Lifetime would have you believe. Still, as campy and often eye-roll-inducing as those movies were, they hold a fond place in my childhood memories. Not that I could ever voluntarily put myself through watching any of those movies as an adult. So imagine my excitement when I discovered this: http://lifetimewow.blogspot.com/

Yes. An entire blog dedicated to reviewing Lifetime movies. As I said: The. Best. Thing. Ever.

Check out some of the other things Lifetime movies taught me:

  1. All step-fathers are secretly psychos.
  2. Cheerleaders are evil.
  3. Tori Spelling is incapable of making a good movie.
  4. Getting radical plastic surgery is the best way to get revenge. (Does anyone else remember that film where Yasmine Bleeth -from Baywatch, for those of you born in the 90's - played a woman wrongly sent to prison by a lover? She got out, got radical plastic surgery and then spent the rest of the movie trying to avenge herself?)
  5. If you get a great deal of a mansion overlooking the sea, it's 99% likely to be haunted.
  6. Farrah Fawcett is awesome.
  7. If you're a nurse and you help save a millionaire, he will stalk/court you until you agree to get married. Then, when you inevitably realize he's insane, he'll refuse to give you a divorce -- until his stepson, who falls in love you with after meeting you twice, kills the father in order to marry you! (Bonus points if you can guess the title of this movie.)

At Lifetime, Wow!, the reviews are spot-on, hilarious and still manage to make me feel nostalgic for the Lifetime movies I missed. Definitely check the blog out one rainy afternoon or lazy summer day. It's guaranteed to give you a good laugh.
